YOUTH STORIES: AMAL KHELIFI - CSFPA Chott Mariem

Workforce development / Articles / 08-05-2023

To better support my family’s agriculture business in Kasserine, I decided to cut my university studies short and enroll in CSFPA Chott Mariem, a vocational training center in Sousse. My objective was to gain the necessary skills to assist my father in managing our farm, which provides for our family of eight.

My parents were supportive of my decision and I was determined to make the most of the opportunity to learn and increase the farm’s profitability. Having worked on the farm from a young age, I knew the importance of gaining more knowledge and skills.

The training courses and coaching provided by CSFPA have been a great benefit to me. The use of online course modules is particularly helpful, as I can access the material quickly and even study while traveling on public transportation!

Ultimately, I plan to use the skills I’ve gained to open my own fruit-farming business.

*The online horticulture training modules are part of a pilot project between the US government through its USAID Tunisia JOBS program with the National Center for Training of Trainers and Training Engineering (CENAFFIF). Through the project, JOBS helped CENAFFIF develop 14 online course modules in four high-demand sectors – agriculture, textile, electromechanics, and tourism.
