Mr. Mode is a textile-manufacturing company that specializes in the production of sportswear, t-shirts, pants, jeans, jackets, and men’s and women’s workwear. The company’s production facility is located in the underserved town of Hjar Amor in the north-western governorate of Béja.

In 2000, Jalel Aloui, manager of Mr. Mode, successfully completed his studies as a methods technician at the Apparel- and Textile-Training Center of Manouba. Following his graduation, he worked for four years in the quality-control department of a large international textile group specialized in lingerie. Expanding his expertise, he joined a private consultancy firm focused on training the textile workforce in various manufacturing techniques and machinery handling.

Mr. Aloui launched the company in 2019 with only three employees. His business grew rapidly thanks to his extensive network and his knowledge of the market. The company successfully catered to both the national market, providing finished products, and served as a supplier of semi-finished products to intermediaries who further distributed them to Italian clients.

However, the company encountered challenges with its production process and faced significant employee-turnover rates, which prevented it from accepting orders from new customers and meeting its clients’ required quantities. JOBS partnered with Mr. Mode to implement a lean manufacturing program to improve the company’s management practices and tackle the underlying causes of high employee turnover. Meanwhile, Mr. Mode made investments in new machinery to enhance production capacity.

During COVID-19, the company actively contributed to the national effort to mitigate the pandemic by producing disposable masks and medical garments and supplying hospitals, municipalities, police, and national guard. While Mr. Aloui's unit was operating at full capacity, there was a shortage of raw materials necessary to expand production capabilities. JOBS awarded the company a grant to procure the required raw materials, facilitating increased production.

Thanks to JOBS’ assistance, the company was able to sustain 20 jobs, create 28 jobs, and triple its sales.
