King Dattes was established by Mr. Khaldi in 2018 and began its operations in 2020. The company owns palm trees in both the Gafsa and Tozeur regions, which meet 40% of their needs. The company sources the remaining 60% from local small-scale producers in the governorate of Kebili.

Initially, King Dattes mainly exported its products to Morocco and Qatar. However, Mr. Khaldi had greater aspirations and sought to also enter high-value European and American markets. To achieve this, the company needed to meet several international certifications and expand its production capacity.

In late 2021, JOBS helped the company implement international halal, kosher, and quality-management certifications (ISO 22000) in order to fulfill orders from prospective buyers in the US, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Malaysia. The company is presently in the process of implementing additional quality certifications (IFS/BRC) and good agricultural practices (Global GAP). The company has also expanded its production facilities to meet the increasing demands of its clients.

As a result of JOBS’ assistance, King Dattes created 94 new jobs, increased its production by 30%, and began exporting to the US, Italy, and Azerbaijan.

“We aspire to be among the world leaders in the export of dates and its derivatives. To do so, we will keep on advancing by focusing on innovation and eco-friendly practices.”
