Softifi: Upskilling IT engineers in southern Tunisia

USAID Tunisia JOBS’ support for Softifi, an IT engineering company in Zarzis founded by two members of the Tunisian diaspora, is helping the company expand its service offerings and take on more projects with major international clients.

Founded in 2020, Softifi specializes in digital transformation, e-commerce solutions, and digital marketing. In addition to providing these services, the company develops stand-alone software solutions for its clients.

The company is based in Zarzis Smart Center, a technology and innovation hub within the Zarzis Park economic free zone. Still, in its start-up phase, Softifi currently works with its main client, a Saudi-based ICT company, to provide outsourcing and software development services. This client is interested in sending additional projects to Softifi over the next three years.

To accept these projects, Softifi needs engineers who are proficient in JavaScript, specifically in digital process automation. The company is struggling to source and recruit software engineers with this expertise.

JOBS helped Softifi train 12 existing engineers and 30 newly recruited engineers in JavaScript and PEGA, a business process management software. This support helped Softifi accept new projects from its main client and increase sales in 2021. The company expects to create an additional eight full-time engineering positions in Zarzis by the end of 2022.

“We are happy to provide job opportunities to these young IT engineers. They clearly live up to the positive reputation that Tunisian developers have abroad.”

Radhouane Rabia - CEO Softifi
